The traditional stool of the Lugbara Kingdom of Uganda inspires Emerald’s designs. The cast aluminium stool that doubles as a side table is embellished with faceted chrome diopside.

The gemstone is sustainably sourced based on Finland’s “Everyman’s right”. With only a few restrictions, this right gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the country’s vast resources, including prospecting and collecting samples by hobbyists. The fact that most of the gemstone discoveries in Finland have been made by hobbyists is amazing in itself.

Chrome diopside, a popular gemstone among hobbyists, is common in the skarn of the now-defunct quarry in Outokumpu’s old pegmatite.

With an average of 7 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, the gemstone cuts and polishes to an excellent degree. The occasional naturally occurring fissures and pores, which do not diminish the durability of the gemstone, are filled with 24-karat gold leaf.
