The traditional stool of the Buganda Kingdom of Uganda inspires Asscher’s design. The cast aluminium stool that doubles as a side table is embellished with faceted jasper breccia.

The gemstone is sustainably sourced based on Finland’s “Everyman’s right”. With only a few restrictions, this right gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the country’s vast resources, including prospecting and collecting samples by hobbyists. The fact that most of the gemstone discoveries in Finland have been made by hobbyists is amazing in itself.

In Lapland is a quartz vein that contains red jasper as fragments in a compact fine-grained matrix. The color of the reformed rock and shape of grain vary greatly resulting into unusual interesting patterns. This brecciated jasper is highly prized among hobbyists.

With an average of 7 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, the gemstone cuts and polishes to an excellent degree. The occasional naturally occurring fissures and pores, which do not diminish the durability of the gemstone, are filled with 24-karat gold leaf.
